Alderson & Associates, Inc. provided LEED and enhanced commissioning services for the new 1.2 million sq ft, 10-story trauma tower, a state-of-the art expansion at University Hospital in the South Texas Medical Center. The facility will house an expanded emergency center and operating rooms, additional inpatient rooms, diagnostic and treatment areas, and a modernized and expanded power plant. As the principle commissioning agent for the Central Utility Plant (CUP) and HVAC system for this capital improvement project, Alderson & Associates, Inc., equipment commissioned included the chilled-water system, including 5 1,100-ton chillers and cooling towers and chilled water distribution pumping system, air handling units, exhaust valves, duct humidifiers, heat recovery units, Computer Room Air Conditioning (CRAC) units, and building automation system (BAS).
