Alongside Studio 8, Alderson & Associates, Inc. provided services for the transformation of Windsor Park Mall into a vibrant headquarters of Rackspace. The project started with an intense study period to know what of the facility was usable and what wasn’t. This was married to a real time examination of the company’s program and personnel needs and expansion requirements. These two factors allowed Studio 8 and Alderson & Associates to project the space available, where the next expansion should be and what it takes to get there. From a mechanical standpoint, air conditioning systems were sized for future expansions to determine if and when new chillers would have to be added. Electrically, future computer rooms and Network Operation Centers (NOC) were planned several expansions down the road to allow for procurement of generators and other long lead items to not hold up expansion. Feasibility of solar power, water reclaim and other green topics was examined. Energy studies were performed to determine types of lighting, types and sizes of air conditioning systems, and plumbing systems.
